Notes:
  • In American English, this sound often replaces the /t/ and /d/ sound in fast speech.  For example, the phrase "I gotta go" would normally be pronounced: "aɪ...gɑ...&ə...goʊ" 
  • The IPA symbol for this sound is /ɾ/, but I use the arbitrary symbol '&' because people often confuse /ɾ/ with the English /ɹ/ sound.
